Community Makers is an initiative between the Association for Dementia Studies at University of Worcester, the UK Dementia Research Institute’s Care Research & Technology Centre (UK DRI CRT) at Imperial College, and Alzheimer’s Society, in response to isolation caused by the COVID crisis for people affected by dementia.

The Association for Dementia Studies was established at the University of Worcester in 2009 under the leadership of Professor Dawn Brooker. Our multi-professional team are experts in the field of person-centred dementia care and support providing a cutting-edge contribution to building evidence-based practical ways of working with people living with dementia and their families that enables them to live well. The Meeting Centres Support Programme is managed by Dr Shirley Evans.
Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading dementia charity. Its Innovation team has unbridled access to the Society’s internal and external networks including people with dementia, service providers, knowledge experts and public bodies. The team’s expertise in co-producing solutions for people affected by dementia was recognised by a Service Design Award in 2019.
The Helix Centre is part of the UK DRI Care Research & Technology Centre at Imperial College London. We are a design and technology team focussed on translating healthcare research into impactful applications. We work with people affected by dementia to inform and translate clinical, science and engineering research.
